are sold to a power company. It is the Japan's first large scale
wind farm, having started operation in 1999.

Features of Equipment, Systems and Facilities
Japan's first large scale wind power generation facility
This is the Japan's first large scale wind farm consisting
of 20 generators with capacity of 1 MW. The commercial operation
has continued smoothly since its start in November 1999.
Every effort is made to eliminate any influence to the power
grid system with the latest technology. For safety, operators
stay at the facility to oversee the operation.
Improved economic efficiency by large-scale systems'
introduction
Simultaneous installation work of 20 same type turbines
could reduce a fair amount of the construction cost. This
wind farm plays a role as a pioneer of the electricity sales
business in Japan.
Wind power generation in the stock farm
As the wind farm is located on the land rented from the
local government, the power generation facility is deployed
to minimize the amount of required land. In addition, all
the power cables are buried underground to preserve the
scenery. Power generation business can co-exists with stock
farm.
Contribution to the local community
Many visitors have come to see the facility as a landmark
of Tomamae Town. The facility is expected to contribute
to the local community in various phases.
