High Efficiency Power Generator for Small-scale Wind Power Generation
System (Uni-Ace Pole 500)

Comparing to a conventional generator, starting torque (the
initial force to rotate the generator) of the Uni-Ace Pole 500
is 1/6.
When it is used as a wind power generator, it starts operation
at a wind speed of 2.5 m/sec, and it continues to operate at
1.7 m/sec.
This new and small type generator increases the power generation
efficiency by 40% compared to the conventional generator.
Features of Equipment, Systems and Facilities
Uni-Ace Pole Generator
The structure of power generator has not changed for 100
years. This generator has quite a new structure with permanent
magnets. This is the world's first small-scale power generator
with AC square-wave output.
- Starting torque is 1/6 of the conventional generator.
- Unchanged rate of waveform in low or high rotational
speed can provide consistent high quality power output.
- 90% of power generation efficiency at 2 Hz per rotation.
(Concerning conventional generators, efficiency is about
65%.)
- Vibration and power generation loss is small and temperature
increase is slight.
- Simple structure with 40 parts (1/5 of the conventional
generator)
Advantages as a wind power generator
Although this is a magnetic type, starting torque is lower
than that of the conventional generator. This is highly
efficient and most optimum generator for wind power system.
- Use of permanent magnets is optimum for stand alone
type wind power generation system in the non-electrified
district.
- It is optimum for wind power generation in a weak
wind region.
- It starts operation at a wind speed of 2.5 m/sec,
then generates power at 1.7 m/sec.
- Simple structure will reduce troubles. It is almost
maintenance-free.
- Four 500 W generators have been installed at a brewary
plant located in a weak wind region.
Outlook
- Logically, this generator can generate up to 50 kW.
Actually at present, it generates in the range from
1 W to 5 kW. It achieved down sizing and higher efficiency.
- When the generation is utilized in various fields,
this simple structure with small number of parts will
lead to substantial price reductions by mass production.
