Prius is powered by a combination of a highly efficient gasoline
engine and an electric motor run on high-voltage batteries charged
by the engine, and runs on the more economical and more environmentally
friendly mode for the driving conditions.
The price of Prius is only about ¥500,000 more than an equivalent
gasoline-powered car, and fuel consumption is about one half
under normal driving conditions.
