Features of Equipment, Systems and Facilities

Electric power for remote islands has been supplied by using small-scale diesel generators, in which power cost is relatively high.
The commended system is installed in a remote island in Okinawa. It is a hybrid system composed of a 280 kW wind power generator and 5 units of diesel generator.

    AC-DC converter 300 kW
    Battery capacity 400 kWh (Hateruma Island)
      600 kWh (Tarama Island)
    Control Functions Diesel generator is controlled to automatically turn on/off depending upon wind power output.
    Storage battery for leveling wind power output, compensating power output in response to abrupt changes in wind power and discharge control for peak demands.
    Frequency variation within ± 0.3 Hz, when operating the wind turbine.
    Voltage control by AC/DC converter (power factor control)
