PV Powered Water Treatment System for Ogochi Reservoir
Winner
Water Works Bureau, Tokyo Metropolitan Government
Fuji Electric Co. |
Features of Equipment, Systems and Facilities
The world-first water cleaning system to collect, process and
remove algae from reservoir by using PV power alone.
The system is composed of a water cleaner floated on water,
an electric-powered ship to collect and carry algae and a power
generation facility, all of which are mounted with PV modules
with total power capacity of 155 kW.
Generated power is used for maintaining the water quality, for
lighting of adjacent exhibition hall and for emergency power
source in the event of disasters. |
Floating PV System-Water Quality Controller |
Power generated by the floating PV plant is used for powering
a water quality controller to collect algae, and also for emergency
power supply in the event of disasters. All the necessary power
is derived from PV modules. The system is a stand-alone unit
powered by PV alone, and the operation is automatically controlled
for effectively utilizing power.

PV Power Generation Facility |
Electric power generated by PV modules installed on a parking lot in front
of the Exhibition Hall is used for charging storage battery
mounted on the "Hidamari". It also serves as auxiliary power
supply for the hall and as emergency power source in the event
of disasters. Excess power is sold to the utility.
