Power Generation System for the Hyogo Prefecture Nishi-Harima Office
Public Enterprises Agency, Hyogo Prefectural
Government
| This photovoltaic power generation
system has been selected from among publicly invited system
proposals that could assure the annual power consumption (400,000
kWh) of the building for 20 years. The system output is 506
kW, which is the largest among the systems owned by local governments
in Japan. All of the 4,218 crystalline modules on the roof are
of the same type and capacity, allowing cost reduction. This
is an excellent introduction case to promote widespread use
of the system among other local governments. |

Power consumption = Generated output |
The Hyogo Prefecture
Nishi-Harima Office has been constructed as a “green government
building,” with reduction of the environmental load taken
into account, and it was decided to let the photovoltaic power generation
system cover all the power consumed in the building (400,000 kWh/year).
This system is effective to reduce 264 t-CO2
of carbon dioxide emission, and to absorb carbonic acid gas with
a capacity equivalent to a 73-ha forest.
When the order for the system construction
was placed, the performance was specified to ensure that 400,000
kWh/year or more would be generated for 20 years. As such, every
year, the generated output and the like are continuously measured,
for verification.
