Power Generation System for the New Itoman Municipal Government Building
Itoman Municipal Government
Kobe Steel, Ltd.
Nihon Sekkei, Inc.
Nissin Electric Co., Ltd.
This is a photovoltaic power generation system
with a capacity of 195.6 kW, installed on the south face and roof
of a new municipal building, which also serves as a sunshade and makes
the most of natural light. The actual power output reaches the planned
value, and the capacity factor is higher than those in other Japanese
regions. Since its shielding effect is excellent, the space cooling
load can be significantly reduced, and its impressive design is expected
to raise public awareness about energy saving and PV power generation.
Features of Equipment, System and Facilities
The photovoltaic power generation system
installed on the roof and south face of the building acts as sunshade
louvers. The solar cell louvers is to save 25% of the energy for
space cooling (42,000 kWh/year of power), and is to generate 12
% of the electricity required in the building (211,000 kWh/year).
The modules are provided as tempered glass laminates, and they are
supported on two lateral sides in a structure, to withstand strong
winds and salt damage.
Symbol of the building,
