Float-Type
Photovoltaic Power Generation System for Water Purification of Honen
Pond, Kagawa Prefecture
Kagawa Prefectural Government
Kawasaki Steel Corp.
This is a 30 kW photovoltaic power generation
system introduced as a power source for a water purification system
of an irrigation water reservoir. A float-type system (a system with
solar cells floated directly on the water surface) is employed to
fit the surrounding scenery. It is expected that the system will be
widely used for purifying water of lakes and ponds.
Features of Equipment, System and Facilities
| • |
Each module, having a float integrated, can
be installed independently, to enhance the degree of freedom
in installation scale, and to allow applications to various
sites. |
| • |
Compared with the conventional water surface
installation method, no pontoon is required, allowing cost
reduction. |
| • |
Since the solar cell module is installed on
the water surface, the water can cool the module, preventing
a lowering of conversion efficiency due to a temperature rise.
Thus, the power generation efficiency has improved relatively. |
