Organic Wastes Disposal System Based on High Temperature Methane Fermentation (METAKLES)

@Kajima Corporation

Features of Equipment, Systems and Facilities

This system is to dispose organic wastes, such as kitchen garbage, which have to be incinerated or used for land-fill, through methane fermentation, and to utilize methane produced as energy source. The organic wastes disposing system is filled with carrier materials specially developed for keeping methanobacteria at high density. The high temperature methane fermentation allows to accelerate the rate of disposing organic wastes 4 to 5 times as fast as the conventional system and to reduce the system size.

  • About 1,200,000 kcal bio-gas can be taken from 1 ton of organic wastes.

  • Waste heat of biogas power generation can be used.

  • A variety of equipment with organic wastes disposing capacity 1 to 50 tons/day/unit can be provided.

  • The high temperatures methane fermentation (at 55 ) makes the system compact and reduces the construction cost.

  • With sorting and crushing machines provided, a wide range of waste materials can be handled.
