Hisai-Sakakibara Wind Power Generation System

@Hisai City, Mie Prefecture

Features of Equipment, Systems and Facilities
Hisai City installed 3,000 kW wind power generation systems consisting of 4 units of wind turbine rated at 750 kW each. The annual power production amounts to approximately 8,000,000 kWh, 16 % of the City's power demand, which is to be sold to the utility. In consideration of total annual power consumption of the City, the reduction of carbon dioxide emission is estimated to be about 4.7%.

While the rotor turns at wind speed 2 m/s, power generation requires 3 m/s or faster wind. When the wind speed exceeds 25 m/s, each blade is turned parallel to the wind so as to reduce the resistance to wind and to stop spontaneously, for the sake of security. The system is designed so that rated output 750 kW is maintained up to 12.5 m/s or faster wind. The yaw system to keep the turbine facing to the wind and the variable pitch to change the blade angle depending upon the wind speed ensure stabilized and efficient power generation.
